I have had my steamer for about 3 years now and I love it.I haven’t used the iron in ages.It heats up fast and does a great job. It also sits flat, which most small steamers do not do; this is convenient if you want to set it down to grab the next article of clothing. I bought one for my son and my niece.I tell people forget the iron, just get this steamer. You can use it on almost all fabrics, unless the label states don’t use steam. I even take it when I travel, because it is pretty light weight.

Review of Powr Flite PD500DX High Volume Air Mover with Handle and Wheel Set

This fan is well built and puts out a very powerful stream of air in one direction.It is large and very heavy weighing about 35 pounds but it has wheels and a telescoping handle that is easy to move around if you don’t have to climb stairs.Basically it has a big heavy motor that turns a squirel cage fan by direct drive (no belt).I measured the power consumption and it uses 450 watts on high, 420 mid, and 400 low.That is more power than the blower in the forced air furnace in many houses.I gave it 4 stars because it is bigger and more powerful than I will ever need and even low is loud and too powerful.It would of been better if high was 450 watts, middle was 350 and a quieter and more economical low of 250.

Review of Roomba 500 Series Side Brush

Like most reviewers here, I love my Roomba 550 (to the extent that a man can love a Horseshoe Crab, that is), but feel disgusted by the poor durability of the spinning side brush. The first ‘arm’ of the side brush broke off after just two weeks of use. Within two months, my Roomba was completely ‘armless’. So I ordered this 3-pack Roomba 500 Series Side Brush one month ago.

The new brush has only three ‘arms’ compared to six in the original design. This has alarmed some reviewers, who thought they have received counterfeit replacement parts. But according to the official iRobot web site, the three-arm version is indeed the new design. I was initially skeptical of whether three arms are better than six in terms of durability. But so far the new brush seems to be working just fine. At least there is no sign of any arms breaking off (yet).

Apparently, iRobot has received massive complaints about the series 500 Roomba side brush, and is offering a replacement brush to each owner. Just go to “irobot dot com slash support”, select your Roomba’s model, and enter “order spinning side brush” in the search bar. You will then be able to ‘order’ a side brush for free – after you complete the product registration page.

[Update on Dec 16, 2008]
I received a free side brush from iRobot 10 days after filling in the request online. The downside is that I started to receive ’special offer’ emails from iRobot every single day! Luckily there is an option to unsubscribe to those offers.

[Update on Feb 20, 2009]
All three arms of the new side brush are still intact after three months of moderate usage (once every two days). So it looks like the new design is indeed better.

Helpful hint:
When installing the new spinning side brush, make sure to press it down hard until you hear a definite ‘click’. The first two times I did not install it correctly, and the side brush kept falling off after a few days.

I’ve been renting rug doctors from Safeway for years so I finally decided it was time to buy one.They are amazing.They will transform your carpet from a depressing situation to like-new again.I don’t usually use the anti-foam solution.I just use a tiny splash of the cleaning solution in the water to keep the foam to a minimum.It usually takes multiple passes on high-traffic areas, but it’s worth it.Here’s a tip:you can use a small squirt dishwasher soap as an anti-foam – it’s the same thing chemically.

I bought this unit and used it to clean all the carpets in my home over a three week period.At the end of the three weeks it stopped sucking the water back up, I had been taking excellent care of it and had kept it clean.I brought it to the repair place and they fixed it but it never worked as well again.It just keeps breaking.It has to be turned on its side to get the shampoo to “wake up” and start coming out.It sometimes works but often times it does not.Its been back to the repair place repeatedly and now that the warranty expired its worthless.It actually would have been cheaper to have my carpets done professionally.I have a friend who brought a similar unit at costco and had the same trouble.

Review of Tobi Steamer

I got my robi in the mail yesterday and decided to try it out on 3 pairs of dress shirts and slacks. It took me 30 minutes to get 1 of my shirts to the level of acceptable (but not iron quality). I understand that it will never be iron quality, but this product is a hazard.

*The stand is clumsy and un-balanced
*The steamer does not work on creased wrinkles
*The hose has to be completely uncoiled for the steam to come out
*The unit leaks if you open the water release valve for full steam
*The unit might-as-well not even have wheels on it, cause they don’t help – I ended up just using the shoulder strap.

This product is a piece of you know what. I wouldn’t have it any where near children or pets. I am sending it back today, but I do get to keep the travel steamer, which is good to have regardless of how fast it works. I hope Dyson finds a reason to engineer one of these.

I am not sure what this product is actually good for. It just didn’t do the things I expected. I thought it might remove the film on my shower door but no go. Using it for the carpet was not pleasant and didn’t do much.

Review of FAIP PowerWasher Universal Pressure Washer Dual Brush Kit #80008

I have to admit that maybe I was expecting too much from these brushes.I thought that with the power generated by the pressure washer the brushes would spin MUCH faster.But it appears that the nozzle controlling the water flow and the gearing is set to keep the spin rate down.This may be fine for use on something with a fine finish like a car, but I was hoping to use it to clean the patio furniture, siding, etc. and I think that it could benefit from higher RPM’s for these tasks.

Other than that, the brushes seem to be of good quality and the attachments all fit very well.

We just purchaserd a new home and upon arrival things were not in good shape.The house was filthy and we needed to do something to get things on track.I ran out and bought the Hoover Steam Vac V2.After talking to a person who works with carpet for a living, we took some advice and avoided using any detergent when cleaning.We used only the HOT water from the Vac to dislodge the dirt.Apparently the detergent leaves residue behind that can actually ATTRACT more dirt.Using the water-only approach worked like a champ (If you want to use dtergent, the rinse mode of the V2 claims to remove most residue).

This is the best cleaning tool I have ever purchased.It did an amazing job on all our cparpets, and the house looks like new again.I would HIGHLY recommend this tool to anyone with high-traffic carpets, espcecially those with kids running on them.
